a little summer vacation.

So I guess with four days left, I failed the challenge. But I'll finish the last four days..eventually. The real reason I disappeared for a little over a weeks is..I left. With Katie, of course. As soon as her last final was taken, we drove to San Diego. Katie's mom and dad flew out to Boise to help us drive. We left around elevenish and arrived in San Diego the next morning at about five. After sleeping for about four and a half hours, our vacation started! We spent most of the time with our families. My little broseph graduates next month and I can't be there due to summer school, so I spent quite a bit of time with him. But that's nothing new. We had a big dinner Sunday night with both of our families. We went bowling afterwards. And on Tuesday, we went to Disneyland with my family. They had never been before. It was a lot of fun, but not exactly what I expected. It rained. And the Indiana Jones ride was closed. But my parents saved the day by buying poncho's and rising above the rain. Thankfully, the weather cleared up by about noon. My parent's kind of almost had a heart attack after going on Space Mountain. And Katie had to lie to Nathan to get him to go on Matterhorn with us. It was pretty funny. Nathan and I both missed the Abominable Snowman at the beginning of the ride. Because everyone had already told me about it, I looked everywhere..except for right in front of me apparently. And Nathan. Well, he was just too scared to notice anything except for the tires in the middle of the track that he kept going on about. He thought they were going to derail us or something. It was a lot of fun! Really. It was. But Thursday, Katie and I packed up and headed back to Boise. We had to get back so I didn't miss too many work hours. We stayed the night in St. George and finished our drive the next day. We arrived in Boise at about eight that night. On the way to San Diego, we had taken the 93 but on the way back, we stuck with the 15. It seems safer. There are actually gas stations around. And people. Those are important too. Anyways, I just started reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's really interesting and I feel like I'm getting sucked in. Katie recommended the book to me. She's a little obsessed. Katie read the first book in three days and she's on the second book now. Catching Fire. By the same author, of course. I think I'm going to write a book. I just need a really good idea since I'm not the best writer. If you have a really good idea, it doesn't matter if you're a brilliant writer or not, does it? Maybe it does, but I've got a couple of ideas. If you have any ideas for a book that you don't want to write yourself, please share. I could use a published book. A best seller. Some extra green. I'll just have to write on napkins, because I'm that poor.

Day 56 - Remember to Smile.

Day 56 - A picture of something that makes you happy.

Small acts of kindness make Katie happy. She likes nice people and doing nice things for others. Love always shines every time. Remember to smile.

Food makes me happy! Especially Mexican food. I guess that says a lot about me, huh? But I do help people. Sometimes. I'm just kidding. I pray daily for ways that I can reach down and lift someone in need. We really are blessed when we do things for other people. But back to Mexican food. As much as I love gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish, there's something about each bite of carne asada that goes into my mouth that brings a smile to my face. Seriously. My wifey would tell you. There's nothing that makes me happier than Mexican food. Besides her, of course.

And nice person of the week goes to..Katie.

Day 55 - On The Big Screen.

Day 55 - A picture of the last movie you saw in theaters.

So the last movie we saw in theaters was Water for Elephants. I wanted to see Rio but because Katie really wanted to see Water for Elephants, I let go of my own desires. And I was kind of interested myself. Turns out that I really enjoyed the movie. It's a drama based on the acclaimed best seller, Water for Elephants, of course. In the movie, Robert Pattinson plays the Veterinary school student, Jacob, and Reese Witherspoon plays Marlena, a star performer in a circus during the Depression-era. Critics rated Water for Elephants 58%, while users gave it a higher rating of 82%. I'd go with the higher rating of 82%. And that's why I'm not a critic.

The last movie we saw in theaters before Water for Elephants was Rango. And I loved it! Even more than Water for Elephants. Katie didn't really like it, because she thought the characters were too creepy-looking. And they kind of were, especially for a children's movie. But that didn't kill the movie for me. In the movie, Johnny Depp is Rango, a Western Chameleon. This household pet goes on an adventure to discover his true self. Critics gave Rango a better rating than users did at 89%. Users gave it a 72%. And now I'm sitting with the critics.

Day 54 - K.n.G. vs. Wild.

Day 54 - A picture of the one thing you would bring if you were stranded on a deserted island.

Today, Katie called me to tell me Lupe Fiasco would be at our school on Saturday. You can probably guess that I was pretty excited, especially when I found out the concert is free..with free food. I love Lupe Fiasco..in a guy love kind of way. Right after Katie called, I tried to call my brother..but I accidently called Katie back again. She didn't answer, but I told her through a text message that I was trying to call my broseph. She replied back, "You know he's at school, right?" By the time I received her text message, I had forgotten that I texted her about accidently calling her. So when Katie said, "You know he's at school, right?" I thought she was talking about Lupe Fiasco so I grabbed my cap and my backpack, threw a hoody and a granola bar in it and ran out the door as fast as I could, trying not to trip over my untied shoelaces. Lupe's new album is called Lasers and it is sick! I messaged Lupe on Twitter to ask him if he would sign two laser tag guns if I brought them to the concert. I guess we'll see. When I was running around our apartment, I guess I got a little taste of what it would be like to quickly take one last thing. Even though I took like four. And I'm not really sure how you can take one thing when you're already stranded on the deserted island. I would hope it wouldn't be a granola bar. The hoody might help at night and the cap would help to shield the sun, but I was only taking them to get them signed by Lupe. It turns out Lupe wasn't at the school, I searched a couple different buildings before Katie realized that I was at school, looking for Lupe Fiasco. What a stalker, huh? But I think if I could choose one thing, it would be a boat..that runs. But to take a boat, I would need a trailer to get it in the water. And that would be two things. I'm still not quite sure how you would bring something with you when you're already stranded. Maybe if there was a genie inside of a lamp inside of a cave on the island, he..or she could grant me a wish, but then I'd just wish to be off the island. So if I were to bring one thing with me, I would bring a..machete. During my time in New Zealand, I noticed every islander had a machete with them..pretty much at all times. They kill fish and animals with them, cut coconuts down from the trees, open coconuts, cut down branches and small trees, etcetera. I think it's a pretty smart tool to have. It can be used for pretty much anything.

Katie would like to enjoy one last Mountain Dew before dying on the island. But when she thought about leaving me on the island alone, she decided she would try to survive and take a swiss army knife instead. I think a knife could save our lives. We could make a shelter, kill our food, cut wood to make fires, and hope it rained occasionally to collect our water. Now that I think about it, maybe a really good water purifier would be good to have..to get the salt out of the ocean water. Or one of those combat-net radio's.

Day 53 - Hot Topic.

Day 53 - A picture of someone you think is hot.

Two of the hottest people I know.

Umm, I think my wifey is hot. But you already know that. Let me see if I can think of a celebrity that is hot..in my opinion. I think..Zooey Deschanel is hot. She's in..Elf, Yes Man500 Days of Summer, and a few others. And also at the top of my list (I don't really have a list, it's just a figure of speech) are Natalie Portman and Carrie Underwood.

Besides myself, Katie thinks Joseph Gordon Levitt is hot. Well, she actually said he was cute which is a better word in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of the word "hot." And neither is Katie. I like cute, pretty, gorgeous, and beautiful. And maybe handsome for a guy. I'm not sure if that's outdated. I haven't heard anyone use the word in a while. Joseph Gordon Levitt is in 10 Things I Hate About You, 500 Days of Summer, Inception, and many other movies..that Katie likes. But if we're just talking hot people in general, Katie wins. And I'm pret-ty sure I win in her book too. And she doesn't really have a book. Just wanted to make that clear.

And the two celebrity hotties together.
