Day 07 - Real Treasures.

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

I was going to take a picture of my New Zealand flag because it reminds me of the country and the people I love. Then I decided to take a picture of my scriptures instead to be more spiritual. But. The next thing I'm going to say is pretty materialistic of me. Realistically, my most treasured item is the forty-two inch television I bought on Black Friday. I don't have a lot to choose from. And don't judge me! I know I'm not perfect. But let me show you. She's a beaut!

Katie's most treasured item is a locket given to her by her grandmother. Inside is a picture of her great grandparents. The locket was given to Katie before her grandmother passed away and it means a lot to her. I took a picture for you.

It's funny what some consider treasures. Rubbish of one person's may be the treasure of another. It all depends on what we associate the item with. Maybe a loved one. Maybe a difficult trial that was faced and overcome. Whatever it may be, it's how we look at it. I have just a small problem tossing rubbish.  Almost always, when I confuse my determination and pull out the black plastic bags, I find the very next week that some abandoned item was essential to my happiness or the survival of all of earth’s species. If I looked at the item for only the item and not the thoughts and memories associated with it, it wouldn't be so hard. No one wants a cluttered house. Except for maybe those people on the television show, Hoarders. But is it that easy to just give up what we see as treasures? And should we? Probably not. Maybe sometimes. Maybe we should identify our priorities. I don't know. But I do know, our top priority should not be a tv. Just sayin. Shame on me.
